SeaFlight(tm)

SeaFlight(tm) is the world's first virtual reality system or sidescan sonar and bathymetry data. It creates both 3-D and stereo 3-D flight simulations of a submarine or ROV flying at high speed over the seafloor. SeaFlight uses a technique known as Bathimagery(tm) to render mosaicked side-scan sonar imagery from Vista(tm) software and gridded bathymetry data into a 3-D perspective view. The seafloor terrain model is merged with 3-D models of man-made objects such as pipelines, offshore platforms, seafloor structures, etc. A spaceball permits 6-degrees of freedom for complete interactive control of amera and vehicle in both pilot and script modes. Simultaneously, the flight may be captured in NTSV or PAL compatible video. Stereo viewing is accomplished with a stereo-ready monitor, infrared emitter and untethered stereo glasses.
