S/REXX is a UNIX(R) implementation of the IBM(R) SAA REXX language. S/REXX is a superior replacement of job control languages such as the C-Shell, because S/REXX offers a more user-friendly syntax and a rich set of built-in functions. In addition to the standard REXX features such as extensive interactive debugging facilities, text parsing, and string manipulation, S/REXX offers an exclusive dynamic loading feature allowing the user to build a collection of general utility routines, and then to incorporate them when needed in different programs. S/REXX can also be used as a macrocommand language within the SEDIT(R) editor.
