COSTLINK/PE is the interactive interface that integrates COST ADVANTAGE with Parametric Technology Corporation's Pro/ENGINEER solid modeler. Designers using Pro/ENGINEER can obtain immediate feedback on the cost and producibility of their parts and assemblies according to the expert rules stored in the COST ADVANTAGE knowledge bases. COSTLINK/PE, created using Pro/DEVELOP and UNIX Interprocess Communication (IPC), provides the designer with command selections from within the solid modeling session for transmitting data automatically to COST ADVANTAGE. Side by side viewing of the cost and producibility data with the solid model, with updates at each step of design, provides a powerful new extension to Pro/ENGINEER.
