Open INTEGR8(tm) is a record access system that allows data sharing between binary-incompatible systems running on the same network. After a data record is read, Open INTEGR8 translates the data to a format compatible with the requesting environment. Before writing back to the file, Open INTEGR8 re-translates the data into the original format. Open INTEGR8 supports file and record locking so that multiple applications can access the same data file simultaneously. Open INTEGR8 provides true interoperability because data is shared. The process occurs at the system level and is automatic. Open INTEGR8 runs on ethernet networks using TCP/IP or DECnet(tm) transmission protocols. Open INTEGR8 is used by programmers, system administrators, or DEC VAX(tm) legacy system users. The software/hardware requirement is an ethernet network.
