Open LIBR8(tm) is a library of callable routines, native to and optimized for UNIX(R), using the same naming conventions as the VAX/VMS(tm) runtime system. Open LIBR8 incorporates many popular VMS(R) programming features including: asynchronous system trap services; event flag services; file utility library routines; logical names; memory management services; queued I/O; string and mathematical routines; RMS files; SMG routines; and lock management. Open LIBR8 reduces the expense of moving VMS-based applications to open systems. There are no changes to the UNIX operating system. Programmers use Open LIBR8 to port system-level development applications quickly and without recoding. Software requirements: C compiler and UNH development system.
