GDB is the natural tool for debugging applications developed using GCC or G++. The availability of source code makes GDB customizable, easing implementation and use with the GNU compilers. Debugging applications developed using the GNU compilers, hosted on SGI's IRIS, further enables engineering teams targeting the MIPS R3000 or R4000 family of microprocessors. GDB is a source-level debugger, providing excellence of design and a high degree of scalability. GDB employs several features designed to save time: symbol name completion, user-defined macro commands, and a history mechanism -- all help to accelerate the debugging process.
