Network Linda(R) provides a simple, portable, and efficient environment for parallel programming. A Linda(R) dialect is created by inserting six simple operations into an existing programming language such as C. These operations manipulate a logically shared, content-addressable object memory. Since each Linda(R) dialect is based on a standard programming language, it provides convenient access to parallelism within a familiar software development environment. Scientific Computing Associates' Linda(R) implementation enhances the programming environment with an interactive debugging and analysis tool called the Tuplescope. Network Linda(R) allows Linda programs to be run in parallel across a network of workstations.
