PLANFAC is a supervisor software product using a statistical experimental design to evaluate the effects and interactions of several factors on responses of any computer simulation model. The statistical experimental design is a factorial or fractional factorial design. Factorial experiments are actually equivalent to estimate the response in a multi-linear equation. PLANFAC automatically runs the simulation at various values. The advantages of this technique are to minimize the number of experiments and to measure interactions simultaneously with effects. This technique is particularly useful in early stages of experimentation before optimization of responses.
