Today is supposed to be an All India Bandh. But there are quite a few companies which are able to not declare a bandh, and get work done as usual (well, almost).
Cisco is one of the unique companies, which is not only getting people to work from home, but also enabling most of the *other* companies to get their employees to do the same 
And thanks to the increasing broadband speeds, along with some great work by the ITÂ infrastructure teams of companies like ours, working from home no longer means frequently disconnecting vpn connections, slow access etc – you can actually get a lot of work done, same as you were in office.
Another piece of good news – this is just the beginning.
With more mobility enabled devices (Cisco Cius, for one), increasing broadband speeds, and better video conferencing from home, things like personal telepresence in India are really not that far away. Apart from increased employee flexibility (and goodwill thus generated), the reduction in travel, carbon emissions etc are also some direct benefits of such solutions.
Good job, Cisco (and Cisco IT) !

Oh, I have seen Cisco’s Telepresence in my clients location in Bangalore. It rocks. I know there are other companies that have it in Bangalore. Of course Cisco should also have one. So, there are going to be a lot more we might see.
We might even get a not so expensive home version of it in future.
@Pradeep : Yes, Cisco has telepresence at multiple sites, and is being used both for meetings as well as company wide meetings (multi-site all-hands, internal events for hundreds of users, etc – though the latter is less frequent).
There is already a “home” / personal version, but as you mention, it is very expensive as of now. That will surely change. In addition, the country’s broadband service needs to scale up to be able to support mass deployment of such technology
When this comes from you, I always suspect there is some sarcasm to it. But if CISCO has managed to keep an employee like you happy, I think I should really salute them

Check the tags also – no tags such as “humour”, “sarcasm” in use here. It might sound like a cliche, but Cisco is truly changing the way we live, learn, work and play.
And so is Juniper Networks.. with its own routers and VPN software.. Bandh or not, everybody works smoothly !
