A series of crude bomb blasts has taken Bangalore hostage since 1 PM today. Encompassing all areas of Bangalore, these low-intensity gelatin bombs have already claimed a few lives and seriously injured tens of people. No information yet on the identity of the people behind the blasts, or the reason.
I was passing very near one area (Madiwala) just after the blast is supposed to have happened, but did not get any indication of anything being amiss.
These events force us to revisit the question of basic safety of our lives in the city - something as innocuous as waiting for a bus can be fatal 
I am not sure what the solution is, but citizens as well as the government need to take a deep look into the issue and get to the root cause of why such a large-scale tragic event is planned and executed in the first place. Only they can we create adequate safeguards against suchoccurrences.
