A study on internet search engine usage shows that most users are “unsophisticated” about their search techniques, using only a few different engines at max.
Whats wrong with that? With the technology google provides, one is generally enough for a lot of information anyone would want to search. I used to use altavista, yahoo, ask jeeves, lycos .. but none is as friendly or accurate as google.
Of course, there are some specialised searches that require serach engines dedicated to a particular subject (academia, for example). Here, too, google can be a great starting point, and any such engine worth its doman name will show up at the top of google’s result.
With google being more of a verb than a noun today, who needs more than one search engine to start ? Not the majority, I would say ..
